TL;DR by AI

This survey maps the two-way relationship between crypto and AI, clarifying what has been demonstrated, what remains speculative, and where the strongest research opportunities lie.

Abstract

This survey examines the intersection of crypto and AI in both directions: how AI can enhance blockchain-based and cryptographic systems, and how cryptographic, trusted-computing, and decentralized infrastructure can improve AI systems.

The paper systematizes existing work, separates practical evidence from industry misconceptions, and identifies open research challenges around decentralized AI, agentic payments, execution integrity, governance, and system-level AI security.
